Match 1 HSA Tigers vs Engineering Studs (click the link to see the score card)

The Ryerson Challenge Cup 2004 started on a brilliant note, with Engineering Studs crushing the pre-tournament favorites HSA Tigers by 4 wickets in the opening match. Tiger's strong batting line was dismissed in regular succession and ended up on 54 runs in 10 overs. A far cry from their earlier performances in the warm-up games leading to the Cup. Their star batsman Ankur stuck around for 9 overs to score only 8 runs! Nihit top scored for the Tigers with a fighting 25 not out. None of the other batsmen could provide Nihit with any support. Studs' pace duo of Farhan and Vikas shared 4 wickets between themselves. Farhan was specially brilliant with his right arm pacers, as he picked up 2 wickets for only 9 runs in his 3 overs. Meanwhile Studs' chase began in a disastrous fashion. Opening batsman Najim was bowled by Nihit for nought. At that time Man of the Match Farhan Tariq, who had earlier been impressive with the ball, took the attack to the Tiger's bowlers and took them for 19 runs. That paved the way for Fahad(14 not out) & Zeeshan(8 not out) to come in and play little cameos towards the end of Stud's innings. Both these batsmen powered Stud's home with more than 2 overs to spare.

Man Of The Match: Farhan Tariq
